New protection for horses as fly-grazing act comes into force

According to a recent UK government press release:

New laws to clamp down on people illegally abandoning horses come into force today, improving horse welfare standards across the country.

The Control of Horses Act 2015 makes changes to the law to deter people from illegally grazing or simply abandoning horses on public and private land, which is known as ‘fly-grazing’.
As many as 3,000 horses are thought to be illegally fly-grazing across the country.
The changes mean horse owners who fly-graze their animals without permission can now be dealt with more quickly and effectively.

Bern eliminates subsidies for Freiberger Horse

The agreement reached a few days ago in Nairobi byWTO members prohibits any export subsidy. The Canton of Jura hopes to appeal against the decision of Bern.

It is with pain that breeders of Freiberger horses (Swiss FM native horse) celebrated Christmas. This is the day they learned that the Canton of Jura would have to remove subsidies for export of their FM horses. Bad news which adds to the difficulties of exportation since the beginning of the crisis of the strong Swiss Franc.

L'exposition itinérante "Lascaux 3"

Highlights: Egyptian Showjumping Team Barcelona (K. Zoghby and S. Dahhan)

S. Dahhan Course:

                                                                  K. Zoghby course:

Hard luck today in Barcelona for the Egyptian Team, though M. Talaat just had time faults, K. Zoghby had a clear round among very few riders in the world and S. Dahhan and A. Said had good rounds with few faults. EquiJuri wishes to those very talented, independent and hard working riders all the best luck in their careers and success in their coming competitions.
The European fans are still not seeing the legendary A. Sakakiny competing for Egypt. Our legal team and other equine lawyers urges the Egyptian Equestrian Federation to reconsider the legal position of this very popular champion, who is currently competing with the Italian Team.
